Texas licensing context
Texas Child Care Regulation permits and monitors center-based operations. Current Texas rules generally require licensed operations to maintain liability insurance as specified by minimum standards or follow the applicable exception and parent-notification process. Texas HHS materials identify a $300,000-per-occurrence negligence requirement for licensed child-care centers, subject to the rule’s terms and permitted exceptions.
Insurance is a separate analysis
Meeting a licensing requirement does not establish that every important exposure is insured. A daycare program may need general liability, professional liability, abuse and molestation coverage, property, business income, workers’ compensation, commercial auto, accident medical, cyber, EPLI and umbrella coverage.
Information carriers evaluate
For a Texas center, prepare the legal entity, license type, locations, capacity, enrollment by age, infant count, employees and payroll, background-screening process, transportation, playground or water exposures, property values, claims and regulatory history.
Transportation deserves its own review
If the center transports children, identify each vehicle, passenger capacity, route, driver and use. Commercial auto insurance does not replace compliance with driver, restraint, supervision, loading or vehicle-check rules.
